Juniata Park Academy

Philadelphia, PA

Based on the neighborhood school model, the new building is organized around a courtyard opening to the community. Its north facing main entrance responds to its student population which mostly arrives from that direction on food and provides a strong school identity and creates a safe environment separated from both urban and on-site vehicular traffic. The use of bold color helps to identify the primary entrances to the school. The main activity spaces anchor the principal urban corner of the site encouraging a more dynamic connection between the school and the community.
