Abraham Lincoln High School
Philadelphia, PA
Situated on a campus-like setting in Northeast Philadelphia, the new Abraham Lincoln High School is a 265,000 s.f. complex built on the site of the existing Lincoln High School. The school is composed of six interrelated academies as well as common spaces such as a state-of-the-art instructional media center, cafeteria with food court, an extensive athletic/auditorium wing and a day care center. The academic spaces are organized around three generous courtyards, that offer outdoor access for the students and provide generous natural light to all of the teaching spaces. The athletic and public spaces are located to allow for use by the community in the evenings and on weekends. The site has been reorganized to upgrade all of the playing fields and adds extensive landscaped areas that will be shared by the close-knit surrounding community.
